Good morning, happy Friday! I hope you've all had an awesome week and are looking forward to a fun and happy weekend! Iced Beauty releasing 1/20

In honor of our newest kit "Iced Beauty" releasing on 01/20 at Funky Playground Designs I thought it might be fun to share one of my favorite recipes with you!

Iced Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

Cookies:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (about 11 1/4 ounces)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
10 tablespoon butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large egg whites
Icing:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup 2% reduced-fat milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

To prepare cookies, lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, stirring well with a whisk. Place granulated sugar and butter in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and egg whites. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating at low speed just until combined. Divide dough in half. Shape each dough half into a ball; wrap each dough half in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour.
Unwrap 1 dough ball. Press dough into a 4-inch circle on heavy-duty plastic wrap. Cover with additional plastic wrap. Roll dough, still covered, to a 1/4-inch thickness. Repeat procedure with remaining dough ball. Chill dough 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°.
Remove one dough portion from refrigerator. Remove top sheet of plastic wrap; turn dough over. Remove remaining plastic wrap. Using a 2 1/2-inch cutter, cut dough into 18 cookies. Place cookies 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on pans 5 minutes. Remove cookies from pans; cool completely on wire racks. Repeat procedure with remaining dough half.
To prepare icing, combine powdered sugar and remaining ingredients, stirring with a whisk until smooth. Working with 1 cookie at a time, spread about 1 teaspoon icing evenly over cookie. Let stand on a wire rack until set.

Note:

For icing that's suited for piping, decrease the milk to two tablespoons.

Good morning! I am here this week to tell you about my contributions to our January Playgroup at Funky Playground Designs! I was fortunate enough to get to team up with some really fabulous designers and work together on this collection. Last week I showed you the awesomeness that is Jen C Designs' contributions, and this week it's my turn!

Winter's First Kiss

This soft and lovely kit is inspired by the coming season. Gender neutral and versatile, this kit can be used for so much more than snow pages! Fourteen papers (seven patterned) provide a multitude of possibilities in backing these included elements:
2 buttons
3 snowflakes
1 flourish
6 flowers
3 frames
2 greenery
2 paint splats
1 posey
3 ribbons
2 scatters
2 staples
2 stitches (with and without holes, 4 total)
2 strings

Full alpha includes upper case, lower case, numbers and most punctuation. Individual and full sheet png files, all at 300 dpi.

I missed telling you about my newest release yesterday because I didn't want to "lose" the blog hop post on the very first day! However, I am really proud of how this kit came together and I definitely wanted to share it with you. It's called Dearest Marcella, after my beloved grandmother.

My gorgeous little niece Jordan is turning one next month, and when I started making this kit, my thought was 'pretty spring'. Once I started putting together the palette, though, beautiful Jordan kept coming to mind, and so I changed my 'theme'. I hope that this kit will be as special to you as it is to me!

New Release Wednesday~ Dreams of Eire

I'm so sorry I wasn't here to share a sneak with you yesterday, I had to pick up my oldest from school because he'd hurt his foot, then run downtown to have the car looked over because someone hit it (while parked, and parked correctly at that!) in a parking lot while I was shopping on Saturday. Thankfully there is very little damage and it's only cosmetic, and most importantly, nobody was hurt!

So I'm especially excited to share with you this week's new release, since you haven't even had a peek yet! This is one of my absolute favorites, I created this kit for me! heehee! I have never (yet!) been overseas, but I long to visit Ireland and Scotland. With St. Patrick's Day looming, I wanted a kit that could be used to scrap those specific photos, but that wasn't heavily-themed, so if you're like me and the extent of your celebrations is eating corned beef and cabbage (which really makes for some boring photos) you can use the kit to scrap just about anything else as well. It's that time again already! I have a semi-themed kit for you this week (you'll find that I do those fairly regularly... I want to be able to scrap specific holidays, for example, but not *have* to with a kit, I want to be able to do "everyday" pages easily too) because spring had peeked out briefly at us up here in the northeast (of course, we promptly got another couple of feet of snow dumped on us!) It was enough to start me on a spring palette, though!

I don't know about you, but I sometimes find it hard to do layouts of the men in my life. I tend to be a 'girly scrapper' with lots of cluster work and 'frills'. I can scrap my children pretty easily too, but I'm too often stumped when I want to do a page about a grown man. Thus comes Timber Wolf. I wanted it to be masculine but not exclusively so, so that I can scrap a page of a couple, or an AAM if I am so inclined.

It's also great for outdoorsy layouts, hunting or camping trips, family vacations, etc.

Good morning, another Tuesday brings another sneak peek! This week I've decided to do something softer, a little bit masculine and outdoorsy. Exciting Days and a Freebie!

Good morning! I am trying to adjust to my new role at my all-time favorite spot on the web, Polka Dot Plum! It's mostly just a natural progression, yet there is that small part of me that balks and worries, "zomg what are you doing?! You're going to get it wrong!" Human nature, I suppose. :D

I find that I am absolutely loving the design work. I had no idea just how much I would enjoy it. And the "business" end of it even appeals to me, because believe it or not, I was a Business Major in high school! I love all of the little details, setting things up and having them "just so", putting myself on a schedule, getting all my ducks in a row, so to speak. My sincerest hope is that people will like my designs and be able to use them in their scrapping projects. What an honor, really, that people might choose something I created with which to preserve their precious memories! It's a little mind-boggling.

I've started off my shoppe with five full kits and one paper pack add-on, and then today, being New Release Day at PDP, I've released another kit and an alpha add-on. I hope you will take a peek, and if you see something that appeals to you, give it a shot! Getting Set Up

Yesterday I set up my Facebook Fan Page, and twitter account. Yay for social media! I also re-qc'd a couple of kits and I believe that I have 3 ready to go once I get my shoppe up at PDP! I'm so excited! Here's a little preview of the 3 that are ready to go (there will also be 2 collabs, a Plum Pickins, and hopefully another kit or two!)

I'm also debating on when to do a CT call. I have some very good friends helping me out with layouts, and of course the amazingly talented Sugar Plums at PDP, so I don't know if I really need more just now. I tried to make an ad yesterday for 'if and when' and I hate how it came out. Ads, ptooey! :D

Anyway, hopefully things will keep rolling right along and I'll have a full, happy shoppe for you all come the 1st!

I should be able to open up shoppe at the amazing Polka Dot Plum the first week of February. I am already hard at work creating some beautiful products... it's addictive! I do not look forward to losing my mojo, hopefully I will have enough 'stockpiled' to see me through if/when that should happen. For now, though, I lie awake in bed thinking of all the things I want to add to this kit or that. It's a sickness, isn't it, and I'm infected! :D
